Monroe is here and our first experience is fantastic!

Meet our new friend,
She's German and she's fun.
Named after Marilyn Monroe, raspberry and cherry notes abound on both the nose and the pallet. Passion fruit and red currant are also present. With only 2.5% alpha acid this hop is a solid flavor/aroma addition.
The recipe we used to see what Ms. Monroe could do was a very simple Kölsch.
10 lbs of Weyermann Cologne malt mashed at 152. A touch of warrior just to balance some of the sweetness, a third of an ounce or so. And a packet of Lallemand Kölsch yeast. We then added 6 ounces of this fine hop to secondary and dry hoped for a week and a half.
The results are just as advertised.
I think that this hop does great on its own. For a smash beer, it's a great option, if you're looking for a companion for Ms. Monroe I would suggest Huell Melon, but of course, that's another recipe. Hopefully one we can get rolling on real soon.
