Let’s Get Historical This Weekend 7/23/2022

I’ll be brewing in the store this Saturday and have my eye on a historical German wheat beer recipe. I found a recipe for a Kottbusser. This style evidently disappeared from breweries in the 1870s but it sounds tasty. The style doesn’t get much flavor input from the yeast but the malt bill includes wheat, oats and barley with a touch of molasses and honey. Noble hops provide floral aromas to complete the flavor profile.

While we’re at it we’ll check in with the Saturday Saison that I brewed the Saturday before last. Fermentation appears to have slowed so it maybe time to transfer it to a keg.
